Description   Basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF or Heparin-binding growth factor 2) is a single-chain polypeptide growth factor involved in wound healing, angiogenesis and embryonic development. The growth factor is an extremely potent inducer of DNA synthesis in a variety of cell types from mesoderm and neuroectoderm lineages. bFGF binds to heparin and signals through four receptor tyrosine kinases, FGFR1, FGFR2, FGFR3 and FGFR4. It was originally named basic fibroblast growth factor based upon its chemical properties and to distinguish it from acidic fibroblast growth factor. Recombinant Human FGF-b (FGF-2) produced in E. coli is a single non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 154 amino acids with a MW of 17.2 kDa.
Molecular Weight   17200 Da
Purity   Purity > 97% as determined by RP-HPLC and reducing and non-reducing SDS-PAGE. Protein Content determined by UV spectroscopy at 280 nm and quantitation on SDS-PAGE against a known standard.
