Description   Nerve Growth Factor (NGF) is the first of a series of neurotrophic factors that were found to influence the growth and differentiation of sympathetic and sensory neurons. It is comprised of alpha, beta, and gamma subunits. The beta subunit is responsible for its growth-stimulating activity. The synthesis of NGF in astrocytes is enhanced by various other cytokines: IL-1, TNF-alpha, PDGF and TGF-beta. Mouse beta-NGF produced in the submaxillary gland is a homodimer consisting of two identical 120 amino acid non-glycosylated polypeptide chains with a MW of 13,471 Da each.
Molecular Weight   13471 Da
Purity   Purity > 98% as determined by: Analysis by RP-HPLC and reducing and non-reducing SDS-PAGE. Protein Content determined by UV spectroscopy at 280 nm and analysis by RP-HPLC calibrated against a known standard. Quantitation on SDS-PAGE against a known standard.
Storage   Store at -20°C. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment. Following reconstitution, store at -20°C. We recommend to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) for long term storage.
